What Counts as an Event?

Events Include:
  • Pageviews
  • Custom events you track
  • E-commerce events (Shopify orders)
  • Payment events (Stripe transactions)
Not Counted:
  • System events (session_start, session_end)
  • Failed events
  • Duplicate events (deduplication applied)
Example Monthly Usage: 
Website: 100,000 pageviews
Custom tracking: 25,000 events (signups, clicks, etc.)
Shopify orders: 5,000 orders
Total: 130,000 events
Plan needed: Growth ($249/month)

What Are Conversions?

Conversions are events sent to ad platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok) via Conversion Rules. Example: 
Events: 250,000/month
Conversion Rule: Send "purchase" to Meta, Google, TikTok
Purchases: 2,000/month
Conversions sent: 2,000 × 3 platforms = 6,000 conversions
Conversions tracked separately from events.

Overage Charges

Events Overage:
  • $2 per 50,000 additional events
  • Applied automatically when limit exceeded
  • Billed at end of billing cycle
Postback Overage:
  • $2 per 10,000 additional postbacks
  • Only charged for conversions sent to ad platforms
  • No charge for tracking conversions in DATALYR
Example: 
Plan: Starter (50k events, 1k conversions)
Actual: 100k events, 6k postbacks
Overage: 50k events + 5k postbacks
Charge: $2 (events) + $2 (postbacks) = $4
Total: $99 + $4 = $103 for the month

Billing Cycle

Monthly Billing:

Downgrading Plans

Downgrade at Period End:
  • Schedule downgrade for next billing cycle
  • Current plan active until end
  • Limits reduced on renewal date
  • Data retained
Cannot downgrade mid-cycle to prevent overage issues.

Cancellation

Cancel Anytime:
  • Access until end of billing period
  • No further charges
  • Data retained for 90 days
  • Can reactivate within 90 days
Cancel in Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription.

Fair Use Policy

Abuse Prevention:
  • No scraping or bot traffic
  • Legitimate business use only
